Introduction
Brad Kellmayer, a 50+ year old entrepreneur, spent the summer months over the past two years traveling to several mountain town ski areas in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico and California sipping coffee at locally owned and operated coffee shops before spending the day hiking, biking, golfing and generally enjoying the summer months in the mountains.
And, at every local coffee shop visited, he bought a bag of coffee to bring back home to Colorado. At the conclusion of each summer's trip, upon grinding and brewing the mountain town coffee accumulated during the trips in his kitchen, he realized he wished he bought more...
The aroma and taste brought memories from the destinations visited and the specific town the coffee was enjoyed at including "Yeti's Grind" in Vail before hiking the Berry Picker Trail on Vail Mountain; "Cowboy Coffee" in Jackson Hole fueling up for a 40 mile bike ride; "The Butcher & The Baker" in Telluride before hiking to the highest waterfall in America; "Big Iron Coffee" in Steamboat Springs fueling up for the 2 hour hike to the Strawberry Park Hot Springs; "The Coffee Apothecary" in Taos before taking the chair lift and mountain biking down the dirt trails; "Java on Fourth" in Sun Valley before a round of golf at the Sun Valley Resort; "Pink Elephant Coffee Shop" in Park City before exploring the mountain trails in Deer Valley; "The Local Coffee House" in Aspen before hiking the 19 mile Government Trail from Aspen to Snowmass; "Alpina Coffee Cafe" in Lake Tahoe before hiking the trails on the California and Nevada state line at Heavenly Ski Resort and then watching the Fourth of July fireworks launching over Lake Tahoe...
These memories revisited by the aroma and taste of the coffee launched an idea to award a SkiTown Coffee Club "cup" for select coffee shops that distinguish themselves in the coffee served, menu choices, knowledge of staff and vibe of the store.
